Discovering Sitting Volleyball: A Memorable Experience During UK Disability History Month

On Monday, 9th December, two of our club members, Ben and Jordan, stepped out of their comfort zones and into the exciting world of sitting volleyball.

Taking up the challenge from Richard Osborne MBE, they joined the South Hants Sitting Volleyball Club for a special session to mark UK Disability History Month.

As middle blockers, Ben and Jordan quickly discovered the unique demands and skills required in sitting volleyball. It was a fun, eye-opening, and humbling experience, testing their abilities in new and unexpected ways. Both players left inspired and are eager to encourage more of our club members to give sitting volleyball a try.

We extend a heartfelt thanks to Richard Osborne MBE for inviting us and to the South Hants Sitting Volleyball Club for their warm welcome and the unforgettable experience. Let’s continue to celebrate inclusivity and diversity in sports!

Tough Battle in VE National Shield Competition 2nd Round for Phoenix Men

The 2nd round of the VE National Shield Competition was a challenging encounter for our Phoenix Men’s team, as they faced the formidable Coventry & Riga, a well established NVL Division 2 side.

Missing three key players, the match presented an opportunity to test our depth, with junior and development players stepping up to gain invaluable experience.

Despite their determination, the team fell short, losing 0-3 in straight sets. The match highlighted the high level of play required at this stage, giving our squad a clear sense of what to expect as we prepare for next season.

While the result wasn’t in our favour, the game was an excellent learning experience for the lads, and we’re proud of their effort and resilience.

A big congratulations to Coventry & Riga on their victory wishing them all the best for the rest of the competition!

Looking ahead, we’ll take this as motivation to keep building and improving. Go Pompey Phoenix!
